Furnace Humidifiers

A humidifier keeps your home’s humidity level balanced, and ensures health and comfort for your family.

Air Humidifier

Furnace humidifiers control the relative humidity levels in your home. Humidity refers to the amount of atmospheric water vapor, or how much moisture is in the air. It is ideal to keep the humidity level between 30 to 50 percent in order to maintain a healthy environment. Low humidity (below 30 percent) will likely make the air in your home very dry, and consequently, your skin, nose and throat will be dry and irritated. Low humidity is common during the winter time, when atmospheric humidity levels are low, and heating systems, which further dry air out, are in use. Particularly during the winter, a furnace humidifier is extremely necessary to add back moisture into your home’s air. However, high levels of humidity (above 50 percent) promotes grounds for mold, and therefore, the range between 30 to 50 percent is crucial to your family’s health. The benefits of a humidifier are endless: they reduce static electricity in the air, prevent cracks in your furniture and hardwood floors, help ease the symptoms of a cold, flu or allergies, provide relief for those with dry, sensitive skin, helps save money on utility bills, etc.

Did You Know

What is the ideal indoor humidity level?

Indoor humidity levels should be between 30 to 50 percent, with the ideal level being about 45 percent. When the humidity levels in your home fall below 30 percent, your home air will be dry and therefore your skin, nose, and throat can become dry and irritated. Low humidity is more common during the winter time. On the other hand, high levels of humidity increase moisture promoting an ideal ground for mold. Balance between the two extremes (not too dry and not too moist) is key to having a comfortable home all year long.
